The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has summoned Betta Edu, the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, to its Abuja headquarters over an alleged N585 million fraud. Fraud: Tinubu’s Minister, Betta Edu Must Be Sacked – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded the immediate dismissal and prosecution of Betta Edu, the embattled Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, for alleged fund stealing in her ministry. The demand was made by the opposition political party in a statement released on Sunday in response to several fraud accusations against the minister and her government, including the purported transfer of more than N585 million to a private account. https://x.com/OfficialPDPNig/status/1744055447244431430?s=20 BGT News noted how Edu requested that public monies be transferred to a private account held by Oniyelu Bridget Mojisola, who the minister had designated as a project manager. This request was made to Mrs. Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein, the Accountant General of the Federation. It had been approved by the Minister to transfer N585,198,500.00 to a personal account.  However, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered an investigation into the alleged fraudulent activities of the Minister.  

Just In: Nigeria’s Ex-minister Arrives EFCC Headquarters

Sadiya Umar-Farouq, a former minister of humanitarian affairs, disaster management, and social  development, has arrived at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) headquarters. BGT News confirmed the arrival of the ex-minister at about 10 am on Monday.
