#EndSARS Protest: Policemen, Soldiers Storm Lekki Toll Gate
Armed policemen and soldiers were spotted at the Lekki toll plaza, Lagos, on Monday morning, in what appears to be an attempt to forestall another round of #EndSARS protests.
Several motorists noted that the security operatives were deployed around midnight.
Recall that the #EndSARS protests across the country which took place in October were hijacked by hoodlums leading to the destruction of properties and loss of lives.
Protesters were reportedly killed in a shootout by military men at the Lekki toll gate on October 20, 2020.
The hijacking of the #EndSARS protest also saw numerous prisoners set free, while businesses were looted and destroyed.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command has threatened to shut down any form of protest in the state, and warned youths not to engage in the fresh planned protest against Police brutality.
The warning was handed down on Sunday in a statement by the spokesman of the Command, Olumuyiwa Adejobi who noted that the state can’t accommodate any form of protests as it is yet to heal from the effects of the last #EndSARS protest.
