#ENDSARS: Buhari Vows To Deal With Unlawful Protesters

The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, 7th December vowed  to deal decisively with all forms of unlawful protests in the country and those behind them.
He added that no protest or protesters will be allowed to threaten the peace and stability of the country.

This is according to a tweet from the presidency monitored by BGT News which reads: “President @MBuhari
today in Abuja warned that any act of hooliganism hiding behind lawful and peaceful protests will be dealt with decisively to ensure peace and stability in the country.

The President’s statement is coming amidst earlier reports by this online news medium that armed policemen and other security operatives have been deployed at the Lekki toll gate, Lagos, in an attempt to forestall another round of #EndSARS protest.

Eyewitnesses which spoke on the event noted that the security operatives were deployed to the location around midnight.

Security operatives in the country have warned youths against marching to start fresh #EndSARS protests after the initial one in October that resulted in the disbandment of the controversial Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit of the Nigeria Police Force.

On Sunday, the Lagos State Police Command threatened to shut down any form of protest in the state, and warned youths not to engage in the fresh planned protest against Police brutality.

The warning was handed down on Sunday in a statement by the spokesman of the Command, Olumuyiwa Adejobi who noted that the state can’t accommodate any form of protests as it is yet to heal from the effects of the last #EndSARS protest.

It is understood that organizers had been mobilizing to start another #EndSARS protest on Monday and as seen on their social media posts, they are demanding that “Buhari, Buratai, Sanwo-Olu must resign and face ICC for killing innocent Nigerians at Lekki toll; free all #EndSARS protesters; unfreeze all bank accounts of #EndSARS protesters and referendum.”

However, the Police said in reaction to the planned protests expected to hold in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Delta, and Bayelsa has warned that it won’t fold its hands but would professionally suppress the group and all individuals planning to unleash mayhem through the new protest.
