Bye-election: DSS Arrest Bauchi Governor’s Aide For ‘Vote Buying’
Operatives of the State Security Service (DSS)on Saturday arrested Abdon Gin, Special Adviser on Civil Service Affairs to the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, for alleged vote-buying.
Naija News reports that the Bauchi governor’s aide was arrested during the Dass State Assembly Bye-election.
It was gathered that after casting his vote at his Social Welfare Polling Unit and entering his car to leave, Gin was accosted by DSS officials.
According to an eyewitness, DSSofficials searched and found money in his car before arresting him.
He is currently being held at the Dass Divisional Police Station after over N500,000 was found in the trunk of his car.
Abdon Gin’s arrest was confirmed by the Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Lawan Jimeta.
Speaking to newsmen, counsel to the Bauchi governor’s aide, Muktar Abubakar, said, “He (Gin) was arrested on a suspicion that he was having money in his car on the day of election but there was no evidence of giving money to anyone.”
