APC Shares ‘Aso-Ebi’ Ahead Of Supreme Court Verdict

Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressive Congress(APC), is so confident of victory in Kano State that local chapters have begun distributing celebratory outfits to members.

Before the Supreme Court’s ruling on the state’s gubernatorial election, local chapters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State have given out new party outfits to members in anticipation of the party’s nominee, Nasir Gawuna, being sworn in.

The incident came about as a result of the APC and the state’s ruling New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) members observing a week of fasting and animal sacrifices. The two parties had requested that their followers offer prayers for a good ruling from the Supreme Court.

While supporters of APC candidate Nasir Gawuna engaged in reciting the Qur’an and offering animal sacrifices at their bases, the NNPP called on its followers to fast in support of Abba Yusuf, the current governor of the state.

The APC and NNPC have been fighting it out to rule Kano, the most populous state in northern Nigeria, which is primarily a Muslim state. In March 2023, the NNPP candidate was proclaimed the victor of the governorship race in kano
